According to a recent report over in England, Atletico Madrid look set to try and secure the signing of Christian Eriksen on a free as opposed to putting in a major offer for him. They will wait until his contract runs out at the end of the current season, ensuring that they can pick Spurs’ pocket.
Eriksen has been destined to leave North London for the longest time, but now, this seems to be the most serious enquiry. Interestingly enough the expectation has always been that Eriksen would make the jump over to Madrid, but the belief was that it’d be on the other side of the city.
Real seem to have cooled their interest in signing the Danish international, swinging the door wide open for Atletico to pounce.
One way or another, it doesn’t seem as if this saga is anywhere close to being resolved – and won’t be for a while.
