Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Nelson Semedo from Barcelona, according to Sport.
Atletico head coach Diego Simeone is very much keen on adding the right-back to his ranks, with the likes of Diego Godin and Lucas Hernandez leaving the club, and Felipe Luis set to follow them through the exit door.
Apparently, the Madrid club have already contacted the Catalans in order to discuss the deal, but their efforts have so far been fruitless with Barcelona not interested in parting ways with their defender.
The La Liga champions are very keen on giving Semedo another chance to cement his place in the starting XI something he has so far failed to do under Ernesto Valverde, who has recently preferred midfielder Sergi Roberto on the right defensive flank to the Portugal international. However, Valverde has been known to change his mind halfway through games and introduce Semedo from the bench while pushing Roberto further up the pitch.
So far, the Catalan giants were unwilling to discuss any deal and have pointed Atletico to the buyout clause in Semedo’s contract – €100 million.
