La Liga holders Atletico Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho, Marca has revealed.
The two clubs’ representatives reportedly met few days ago to discuss the possible move, although they are still far from reaching an agreement.
Los Boquerones are looking to get top dollar for their prized asset having already rejected a €12 million proposal from Napoli, but it would appear Atletico are not prepared to match the asking price.
Los Colchoneros would prefer to lower the price by including several players in the deal, and it remains to be seen whether Malaga would agree to such an arrangement.
Ignacio Camacho began his career at Atletico, but moved to La Rosaleda after making just 30 league appearances for the Spanish giants.
He has since developed into a key player at Malaga, featuring in 113 top flight matches and scoring 10 goals in the process.
