Atletico Madrid have expressed interest in signing Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui, according to Spanish daily AS.
Los Colchoneros signed Falcao, Adrian Lopez and Pizzi this summer to improve the attacking department, but that hasn’t had the desired effect, with the team scoring just one goal in last four games.
The Spanish club have now set his sights on unsettled Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui, who should be available at a cut-back price.
The Moroccan arrived to Ajax in a €5 million move from AZ Alkmaar last summer, but has recently found himself on the fringes in Amsterdam and is looking to leave the club in January.
The 27-year-old, who is known for his unprofessional behaviour, has fallen out with coach Frank de Boer and hasn’t played a single minute since April.
Ajax are looking to offload the unhappy striker in January, with Espanyol, Fulham, Blackburn and PSV Eindhoven also interested.
