Portuguese newspaper Record is reporting that Atletico Madrid are considering a summer bid for FC Porto defender Nicolas Otamendi.
Los Colchoneros could easily stay without star defender Diego Godin and they are looking to sign a high-profile centre-back in the summer.
According to Record, Diego Simeone has made FC Porto stopper Nicolas Otamendi his number one target.
The problem is that the player’s release clause was recently increased from €15m to €30m, which means los Colchoneros will have to delve deep into their pockets if they want to sign the Argentine.
For the time being, FC Porto are holding out for full €30m, but Atletico officials are hoping they can lower the asking price and lure the experienced defender to Vicente Calderon.
Nicolas Otamendi, 25, has been a real rock at the back for the Dragons, clocking up 64 Primeira Liga appearances and scoring 6 goals.
Liverpool and Marseille battle for Capel
Liverpool and Marseille are locked in the battle for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Diego Capel, according to A Bola.
Due to the difficult financial situation, the Lions are prepared to cash in on the highly rated winger, but they are not ready to sell him on the cheap.
A Bola has learned that both Liverpool and Marseille had €3.5 million bid rejected for the Spaniard, but they are likely to return with increased bids.
Sporting Lisbon officials have decided to focus on the youth in the foreseeable future and they could sell several high-profile players in the summer.
Diego Capel looks set to be one of the first players to leave, with the winger believed to be closer to joining Liverpool at the moment.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form since joining Sporting from Sevilla two years back, scoring 9 goals in 52 league matches for the club.
Lille hotshot agrees PSG switch
Paris Saint-Germain are set to sign Lille full-back Lucas Digne, French newspaper La Voix du Nord has revealed.
The Saints have made the talented defender their number one target as they started the search for a long-term successor to Brazilian Maxwell.
La Voix du Nord reports that Digne has agreed a five-year deal with the French giants worth €1.2 million per campaign, but the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement over a transfer fee.
Lille are prepared to cash in on their prized asset, but they are holding out for €15 million at the moment.
Lucas Digne has also been linked with Manchester City and Barcelona, but it appears as though he would be staying in French Ligue 1 after all.
The 19-year-old has already made 49 league appearances for les Dogues, scoring 2 goals in the process.
