El Mundo Deportivo has learned that Atletico Madrid have made signing Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo their number one priority.
With Diego Costa finally completing a mega money move to Chelsea, los Colchoneros can intensify their efforts to sign a replacement for the Spain international.
And while they were looking at a number of high-profile strikers, it seems Atletico officials have decided to launch an assault on Alvaro Negredo.
Manchester City seem to be holding out for €30 million, whereas los Colchoneros are ready to start the bidding at €23 million, but it appears the two sides will eventually manage to find an agreement.
Alvaro Negredo is far from satisfied with his current status at the Etihad and he is believed to be keen on joining Atletico this summer.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a decent first season in England, having bagged a total of 23 goals in 49 competitive appearances for the Citizens.
