Atletico Madrid are readying summer bid for Levante striker Arouna Kone, El Mundo Deportivo understands.
The players and coaches may be enjoying their holidays following a very successful season, but the technical department is working around the clock to ensure Atletico remain competitive ahead of the new season.
Los Colchoneros are doing everything they can to keep hold of star striker Radamel Falcao Garcia, but the Colombian may not be able to resist a call from top European clubs, especially since Atletico failed to qualify for the Champions League.
The club officials are ready even for the worst case scenario and they are already searching for Falcao’s replacement.
El Mundo Deportivo claims los Colchoneros are keen on Edison Cavani, but seeing the Uruguayan seems like an unrealistic target they look set to switch their attention to Levante’s Arouna Kone.
The Ivory Coast international managed to kick-start his career while on loan at Levante and has scored 15 goals in 34 La Liga games this season.
Even if the player’s contract with Sevilla is set to expire at the end of the season, Kone has a verbal agreement to sign a deal with Levante so that the club from the outskirts of Valencia can earn some money on his transfer.
The 28-year-old is eager to pay back the club that helped him return to the right track, and his price will then be around €6 million.
