Atletico linked to Mario Gomez
Atletico Madrid are keeping close tabs on Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, AS has revealed.
Los Colchoneros are preparing for life without Radamel Falcao and they are compiling a list of possible targets in order to be ready if the Colombian decides to leave next summer.
Spanish daily AS has suggested that Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez is one of the first names on the hit-list.
Gomez, 27, is no longer considered a first choice at Alianz Arena, and should the Bavarians succeed in their quest to sign Robert Lewandowski, the Germany international will surely leave the club at the end of the season.
With Atletico Madrid quickly becoming one of Europe’s top clubs, it is believed the experienced forward would be open to joining los Colchoneros.
Since joining Bayern Munich from Stuttgart, Gomez has scored a total of 67 goals in 104 Bundesliga appearances.
Celtic starlet on Liverpool radar
Liverpool are considering a summer move for Celtic defender Efe Ambrose, according to Scottish Sun.
The Reds are just one of the sides interested in the talented defender, with Sunderland and Swansea also keen.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers sees the Nigerian as a long-term replacement for Martin Skrtel, who looks set to leave the club at the end of the season.
The Slovakian defender clashed with Rodgers few weeks ago and has since been spending his time on substitutes’ bench.
Efe Ambrose has been showing a lot of potential since joining the Bhoys from Ashdod last summer, and he looks ready for a big club move.
The 24-year-old recently helped Nigeria win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, although he was pretty disappointing in the Champions League clash against Juventus played last Tuesday.
Marseille keen on Chedjou, Bedimo
French daily L’Equipe understands that Marseille are readying summer bids for Montpellier full-back Henri Bedimo and Lille stopper Aurelien Chedjou.
January transfer window may be over, but OM officials are already working on preparing the squad for the 2013/2014 season.
After agreeing to renew the contract of key midfielder Mathieu Valbuena, the French giants have turned their attention to potential summer reinforcements.
According to L’Equipe, Marseille are weighing up move for Montpellier defender Henri Bedimo.
The Cameroon international, 28, has a contract until June 2016 and is seen as a player who would provide competition to left-back Jeremy Morel.
Meanwhile, Marseille are also working on luring Lille centre-back Aurelien Chedjou to Stade Velodrome.
Chedjou, 27, is also under contract until June 2016, but he is looking for a new challenge and hopes to leave les Dogues at the end of the season.
