Atletico Madrid are now joint-top in La Liga with holders Barcelona after making up nine points in recent weeks on the Catalans. Manager Diego Simeone has enjoyed the best run of form from Atleti at a time where Barca can’t buy a win, and now the Rojiblancos could snatch the title off the defending champions given the contrast in form.

Second in the league with 76 points from 33 games, Atletico Madrid are only being kept in a runners-up spot on their head-to-head record.
