Talksport understands that Atletico Madrid are hopeful of agreeing a £54m deal for Chelsea striker Diego Costa this week.
The Spain international has long been linked with a return to Atleti after appearing to have played his last game for the Premier League champions.
The La Liga side have been the front runners to secure the services of their former player though they are banned from adding to the squad until January and this deal would see him move to the Spanish capital when the transfer window reopens.
Costa swapped Madrid for London in the summer of 2014 and has since racked up one hundred and twenty times scoring fifty-nine goals while he has helped them win two Premier League titles and the League Cup.
However, he has not featured in any of his side’s games so far this season with that trend looking likely to continue until he is sold.
