Atletico Madrid are on the verge of signing Wolfsburg playmaker Diego, according to AS.
The Brazilian has been deemed surplus to requirements at Volkswagen Arena, mostly because of his unprofessional behaviour and the Wolves are ready to sell him at a cut-back price.
Atletico Madrid are looking to take advantage of the situation and they believe the Brazilian midfielder can be acquired for the fee between €3m and €4m.
While the player is currently earning €4.5 million, Atletico are willing to offer just €2.5 million per season.
According to AS, Diego is willing to accept a major pay cut in order to join los Colchoneros, meaning that the transfer could be finalized within next few days.
The midfielder also has numerous offers to return to Brazil, but he reportedly wants to spend few more years in Europe before returning to his homeland.
