German magazine Kicker is reporting that Atletico Madrid are hot on the trail of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kevin Kampl.
Los Colchoneros plan to rejuvenate the midfield department in the summer and they seem ready to make a move on their long-term target.
Following a largely disappointing campaign for Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid officials hope the Slovenian would be interested in moving to Vicente Calderon.
Despite arriving at Bay Arena from Borussia Dortmund as a winger, Kampl was converted to central midfielder and he has performed really well in his new role.
The 26-year-old started 21 Bundesliga fixtures this term, scoring one goal and producing two assists, while also netting once in six Champions League outings.
Kampl has a deal until June 2020 at Bay Arena and while there is no release clause in his contract, Bayer Leverkusen would probably consider serious offers for his services.
