Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have stepped up their interest in Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi, according to L’Equipe.
Los Colchoneros appear to have come to terms with losing Theo Hernandez and they want the Frenchman to challenge Filipe Luis for a starting berth on the left hand side.
L’Equipe understands that Atletico Madrid officials are already negotiating a deal with the Championship side, who hope to receive between €10m and €12m for the 23-year-old footballer.
Jordan Amavi joined Aston Villa two years ago from Nice, but he only managed 10 Premier League appearances before picking up a knee ligament injury.
He has since made 34 outings in the Championship, and having failed to impress at Villa Park, the 23-year-old will probably be allowed to leave at the end of the season.
Aston Villa had a season to forget in the second division, finishing the campaign in the bottom half of the standings.
