Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea central defender Andreas Christensen in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. Christensen is out of contract at defending European champions Chelsea at the end of the season, and defending La Liga champions Atletico are among the clubs interested in securing the services of the 25-year-old Denmark international centre-back on a free transfer.
Diego Simeone’s side are having a bad season, and could do with reinforcements at the back. Atletico are fourth in the La Liga table at the moment with 42 points from 25 matches, 15 points behind leaders and city rivals Real Madrid.
Christensen is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and has been on the books of Chelsea since 2012. The Dane has made 88 appearances in the Premier League for the Blues so far in his career. Christensen has made 12 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League, and has scored one goal and given one assist in five Champions League for Thomas Tuchel’s side so far this season.
