Spanish La Liga high flyers Atletico Madrid are considering a summer move for Sporting CP starlet Joao Mario, according to Spanish newspaper Don Balon.
Los Colchoneros are currently negotiating a new deal with Saul Niguez, but they are aware that the highly rated midfielder could still leave in the summer.
Should that happen, Atletico Madrid will probably attempt to lure Joao Mario to Vicente Calderon in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who can cover a number of positions in the centre of the park, has been one of Sporting’s star performers this season and he continues to be linked with a big club move.
Joao Mario nailed down a regular starting berth at Estadio Jose Alvalade shortly after returning from a loan stint at Vitoria Setubal and he has so far made 58 league appearances for the Lions, scoring no fewer than 10 goals in the process.
