Atletico Madrid have reignited their interest in Galatasaray midfielder Arda Turan, according to Marca.
Los Colchoneros have been tracking the Turkey international for over a year now and they even looked close to reaching an agreement with Galatasaray in April.
After the initial negotiations fell through, Atletico chiefs decided to pursue other targets, but are now ready to launch a new assault on the 24-year-old.
Coach Gregorio Manzano is desperate to sign a true playmaker before the end of the transfer window and he sees Turan as the perfect fit for the role.
Los Colchoneros have been lacking a creative central midfielder since Jose Manuel Jurado left for Schalke and they were hot on the trail of Wolfsburg playmaker Diego.
However, Atletico were unable to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg and have now turned to Arda Turan.
The Spanish club chiefs are hoping the excellent relationship with their Galatasaray counterparts will help them close the deal.
