Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have emerged as favourites to recruit Algerian defender Faouzi Ghoulam from Napoli, according to Eurosport.
The 25-year-old has done really well since joining Napoli from Saint Etienne, catching the eye of quite a few top sides in the process.
Eurosport claims that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are all keen on Ghoulam, but it would appear as though Atletico Madrid have the upper hand.
Los Colchoneros are eager to sign a left-sided defender who would challenge Filipe Luis for the starting berth and they have identified the Algeria international as their top target.
Ghoulam has made a total of 84 Serie A appearances for the Azzurri, but has yet to register his first goal for the club.
And while he wouldn’t mind leaving Napoli for greener pastures, the Algerian wants to continue playing on regular basis, and will require some guarantees with regards to first team football.
