Atletico Madrid maintain interest in Wilfred Ndidi

Atletico Madrid remain keen on signing Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, according to Caught Offside. The Spanish club had shown interest in the Nigerian during the January transfer window, but Leicester opted to retain him as they continue their battle for Premier League survival.

The 28-year-old missed a string of nine Premier League matches through a hamstring injury, but he started all 16 league matches when he was available, recording four assists. His performances have also drawn interest from Real Betis and AS Monaco, with the latter submitting an offer of a loan plus an obligation to buy for £18 million, including £2 million in potential add-ons.

Despite financial difficulties, Leicester rejected Monaco’s proposal, valuing Ndidi’s experience and squad depth as crucial for the remainder of the season. However, Atletico are expected to reignite their pursuit in the summer as they seek midfield reinforcements, and with two years left on his contract, it will arguably be a good moment for the Foxes to get a full market value for his services.
