Atletico Madrid midfielder Oliver Torres Munoz has joined Villarreal on loan until the end of the season, the El Madrigal outfit revealed on their official website.
The 19-year-old was the second talented footballer to arrive at the club on transfer deadline day, following the loan capture of winger Juan Angel Roman from Barcelona B.
Wide midfielders have been in short supply at El Madrigal and no doubt the arrival of Torres has been seen as a welcoming boost especially with key player Cani still sidelined through injury.
Oliver Torres is widely regarded as the hottest prospect to have come out of Atletico’s youth academy since Fernando Torres, and the mere fact he has already made 15 La Liga appearances for the La Liga title contenders speaks volumes about his potential.
However, with Diego Ribas da Cunha joining los Colchoners on transfer deadline day, Diego Simeone opted to let the youngster leave on loan so as not to hinder his development.
After losing to Real Valladolid, Villarreal sit five points behind Champions League places, but they are 5/2 for a top 4 finish.
