French newspaper Le Parisien has revealed that Atletico Madrid are in talks over signing Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
Having resisted temptation to leave OM for a bigger club for so long, the 28-year-old appears to be finally ready to quit Stade Velodrome.
And while he still has suitors among top Premier League clubs, Le Parisien understands that Atletico Madrid were the first side to make their interest concrete.
With Thibaut Courtois likely to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, los Colchoneros believe Mandanda would be a very good replacement.
They are believed to be in advanced talks with the player’s representatives, while they also need to reach an agreement with Marseille.
Mandanda, who has spent last six and a half years at Stade Velodrome, making 242 Ligue 1 appearances, has a contract until June 2016. The France international is also on the radar of Monaco, but it is believed he prefers a move abroad.
