According to a recent report from Marca, Atletico Madrid are contemplating an approach for Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu. He would be available for the low price of €12 million courtesy of his release clause, but Atletico wouldn’t be the only interested party with Southampton and Manchester United also sniffing around.
The price certainly wouldn’t seem to be too much of an issue but when it comes to what certain teams need, there’s an argument to be made that Atletico may not be in need of a high profile centre-back as much as other clubs. One piece of evidence supporting that theory comes in the form of last night’s result in the Champions League which saw Atletico Madrid defeat Liverpool and hold them to a clean sheet in the process.
Still, at the age of just 20 there’s an awful lot of value seen in Salisu, and it isn’t exactly difficult to see or understand why.
