Atletico Madrid went after Ruiz

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Atletico Madrid made a late move to try and sign Napoli star Fabian Ruiz this summer.

Atletico have had a strong few months when it comes to incoming signings and while their fans won’t want to speak too soon, they should have the potential to do some big things in La Liga this season. They’re unbeaten after three league games and seem to have found a really nice structure in their squad, and that structure could’ve been even better if they’d have been able to secure the signing of Ruiz.

The fee they reportedly put forward was in the region of €50 million, which says a lot about the kind of reputation Ruiz has built for himself over in Italy. Now, we’ll have to wait and see whether or not they go back in for him when the January window rolls around.
