Growing reports in both England and Spain claim that Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has emerged as a primary transfer target for Atletico Madrid.
Los Colchoneros are looking to bolster their options upfront and provide manager Diego Simeone with additional firepower to complement Antonio Griezmann.
Atletico Madrid already have one former Chelsea striker on their books – Diego Costa – but the Brazilian-born Spanish international struggled to stay fit throughout the season and managed to score just one goal in 11 league appearances.
Morata has also gone through a difficult period at Chelsea and has lost his first-team status with Maurizio Sarri mostly using Eden Hazard in the most advanced position in the attack.
The Blues are currently eyeing a deal for AC Milan forward Gonzalo Higuain whose potential arrival would add more pressure on Morata and make his position at the club even more difficult.
SkySports now claim that talks between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are ongoing. The Blues have rejected the initial approach from the Spaniards but Atleti have no intention of giving up and are said to be preparing an improved offer.
