French newspaper L’Equipe understands that Saint Etienne are interested in re-signing midfielder Joshua Guilavogui from Atletico Madrid.
The 23-year-old only left les Verts in the summer, but he has had a slow start to his career in Spain.
And with Guilavogui making just one substitute appearance in La Liga this season, Saint Etienne have attempted to sign the midfielder on a loan until the end of the season.
The Frenchman would not be able to join any other side in January as FIFA rules forbid a player to feature for more than two clubs during a season, but he would have no problems representing les Verts again.
However, Atletico Madrid have moved to reject the offer since Diego Simeone is pleased with the player’s development and believes he can become an important player in the side.
Los Colchoners are locked in the battle with Barcelona and Real Madrid for the La Liga title and are available at 15/2 to win the coveted trophy.
