Mexican TV Azteca has learned that El Tri goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has all but agreed a summer switch to Atletico Madrid.
Los Colchoneros have been on the lookout for a new shot-stopper as Thibaut Courtois’ loan deal came to an end and they seem to have decided to make a move on the World Cup star.
With his contract at Ajaccio expiring in June, the 28-year-old is available on a free transfer and he has reportedly agreed to join Atletico Madrid.
TV Azteca has suggested that the deal is 99% done, with official announcement expected in the coming days.
Before the World Cup started, Ochoa was not an automatic starter for Mexico, but he was given the nod for the opening match against Cameroon and he quickly repaid boss Miguel Herrera.
The experienced goalkeeper produced some stunning saves as El Tri reached the Last 16 stage, catching the eye of Europe’s top clubs in the process.
