Sky Sport Italia is reporting that Atletico Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Italian striker Ciro Immobile from Torino.
Los Colchoneros see the Italy international as a great long-term replacement for star forward Diego Costa, who is widely tipped to leave at the end of the season.
The club officials have established initial contacts with the player’s representatives, although agreeing a deal for the highly rated footballer will be no easy task considering he is co-owned by Juventus and Torino.
After showing a lot of promise during loan spells with Pescara and Genoa, the 24-year-old has largely impressed since joining Granata, and he currently leads the Serie A goalscoring charts with 21 strikes in 31 games.
Having scored 8 goals in last 6 league matches, Immobile is widely tipped to make Italy’s World Cup squad. The talented forward is priced at 15/8 to continue his scoring run against Chievo.
