Atletico Madrid are set to complete the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia from Deportivo La Coruna, according to Marca.
With his contract at Riazor set to expire in a year’s time, the 33-year-old arrives on a cut-price deal and is currently undergoing a medical in Madrid.
Aranzubia is set to act as a back-up to first choice keeper Thibaut Courtois, who has seen his loan deal from Chelsea extended for another season.
Having stayed without Joel Robles and Sergio Asenjo, los Colchoneros were desperate to sign a new shot-stopper, but they have only turned to the former Athletic Bilbao keeper after their bid to capture Miguel Angel Moya from Getafe fell through.
Atletico officials quickly decided to act and are now set to sign the player who has a wealth of La Liga experience.
Aranzubia, who has one Spain cap to his name, has amassed no less than 340 La Liga appearances in his career.
