Sean Cox, who was brutally attacked by a Roma fan ahead of Liverpool’s 5-2 win over the Italian side in last year’s Champions League semifinal at Anfield, has spoken to the public for the first time to say “thank you”.
Following the incident, Sean spent five weeks in a specialist neurological unit in Liverpool, and was then transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. He is now in the care of the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire, where he still receives extensive treatment.
He will attend a charity match being played in Dublin between Liverpool legends and the Ireland FA legends on Friday, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Sean Cox Rehabilitation Trust.
