Fulham manager Mark Hughes has credited his side’s attacking approach for their recent form reversal in the Premier League.
The Cottagers beat West Brom 3-0 on Tuesday to claim their second win in three games and move out of the relegation zone.
Simon Davies, Clint Dempsey and Brede Hangeland all got on the scoresheet in the win which moved Fulham into 13th on the table and left West Brom just two points clear of the relegation zone.
“I am pleased. That’s two wins in three games,” Hughes told Sky Sports.
“Goals change games and we have struggled in that respect but we got a good goal before half-time which settled us and we went away from them in the end.”
“They have unfortunately been lacking in recent weeks. We have addressed that somewhat.”
Fulham have lacked killer instinct up front this season and have had to settle for a flurry of draws, but Hughes expects more wins to come from a side growing in confidence.
“Draws will give you some comforts in terms of how you perform but that doesn’t move you up the league – three points and wins do,” Hughes said.
“You wake up and look at the table and to be 13th makes for better reading. We are with a group of teams at the wrong end and we feel we can do even better than we have in recent weeks.”
After a promising start to the season, West Brom’s losing streak has now stretched to five games and manager Roberto Di Matteo admitted spirits were low at the Hawthorns.
“Everybody’s mood is a little bit down at the moment. We have had a bad run. We are a little bit down but we have to keep going, we have to pick ourselves up,” Di Matteo said.
