Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has moved to play down reports linking him with an exit from the Signal Iduna Park this summer.
The Gabon international, 26, has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, but after scoring in a 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Italian Serie A champions Juventus on Saturday, the 26-year-old insisted he is going nowhere.
“You can take it for granted that I am not going to waste any time thinking about giving up how happy I am at Borussia, in the city of Dortmund and with this team,” Aubameyang told the Welt am Sonntag.
“Dortmund have won the title twice in the last five years, we reached a Champions League final and had Real Madrid on the brink of elimination in the group stage when they went on to win it.
“If I didn’t believe that I could win titles with Dortmund, then I wouldn’t be here.”
Aubameyang, who joined Dortmund from AS Saint-Étienne in the summer of 2013, was named to the Bundesliga Team of the Year after tallying 16 goals and six assists in 33 league appearances for BVB last season.
Mbemba agrees terms with Newcastle
Newcastle United and Jupiler Pro League side R.S.C. Anderlecht have reached an agreement for the transfer of defender Chancel Mbemba.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo international, 20, is set to become the club’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Aleksandar Mitrović (Anderlecht) and Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV Eindhoven).
A statement on the Magpies’ official website read: “Following an agreement between Newcastle United and Anderlecht for the transfer of Chancel Mbemba, the player has been in Newcastle and has agreed personal terms with the Club and undergone his medical.
“The documentation in relation to the Club’s application for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE), required in order for Mbemba to obtain a visa, was submitted to the FA on Wednesday morning (22nd July).
“Unfortunately, the FA are unable to consider the Club’s application until Thursday of next week (30th July). The FA advised the Club they were not able to convene a Panel any sooner.
“The Club will provide an update for supporters at the earliest opportunity following the conclusion of the Panel hearing.”
Over the past two seasons, Mbemba has scored six goals in 63 Belgian Pro League games for Anderlecht, while adding three goals in 11 appearances in the UEFA Champions League.
Newcastle United are best-priced at 3/1 to achieve a top-10 finish in the English Premier League in 2015/16.
