Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has extended his contract with the club until the summer of 2020.
The Gabon international, 26, joined BVB from French Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Étienne on a five-year deal in the summer of 2013, and has gone on to score 41 goals in 131 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund.
Aubameyang, who was named to the Bundesliga Team of the Year in 2014/15, was the subject of reported interest from several top clubs European clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, this summer.
However, the 26-year-old forward has put speculation regarding his long-term future to rest after putting pen to paper on a contract extension at Signal Iduna Park.
“I’m absolutely delighted that the next years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund,” Aubameyang told the club’s official website.
“I feel very happy at the club, in this team and in this city.
“Dortmund has become like a second home to me. Every part of me wants to be here and I have never wanted to leave.”
Dortmund’s director of sport Michael Zorc added: “Auba has developed outstandingly.
“We are very happy that we have been able to tie him down to a long-term contract.”
Aubameyang led Dortmund with 16 goals and six assists in 33 league appearances last season.
Aranguiz nearing Leicester switch
Leicester City F.C. have reportedly agreed a club-record £10.5 million fee with Internacional for the transfer of midfielder Charles Aranguiz, according to Sky Sports.
The Chile international, who played a vital role in his country’s Copa America triumph this summer, would help bolster the Foxes midfielder following the departure of Esteban Cambiasso.
Meanwhile, in other news, Leicester have agreed a £3 million for S.S.C. Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler.
During his eight seasons at Napoli and Udinese, the Switzerland international, 31, made 236 Italian Serie A appearances.
Villa sign Gestede
Aston Villa have completed the signing of striker Rudy Gestede from Blackburn on a five-year deal.
Gestede, 26, had been attracting interest from Norwich City and Watford, but has opted to help replace Christian Benteke at Villa Park.
“I’ve known about Rudy since he was at Cardiff City and he is a player I’ve always admired,” Sherwood told the club’s official website.
“His goalscoring ratio last season was fantastic and he is someone who certainly knows how to find the back of the net. He’s a big, physical striker but he can play and I’m pleased to welcome him to the football club.”
Gestede tallied 20 goals and four assists in 39 appearances, including 31 starts, in the English Championship last term.
