August 1st: Tuesday’s Leagues Cup Double – 6/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the Leagues Cup once again stealing many of the midweek headlines, we are treated to another stacked schedule in the early hours of Tuesday.

As both Mexico and America’s elite go head-to-head, we have found a couple of Leagues Cup showdowns that can offer a great return for your Tuesday flutter.

01:00 Puebla vs Chicago Fire

While Chicago might have shown a string of issues prior to June’s international break, Tuesday’s guests have come roaring back in some style over the past seven weeks. Continuing on their remarkable purple patch since opening their Leagues Cup adventure last month, the Fire now have their sights set on springing an almighty upset in 2023.

Breezing their way to the knockout stage after clinching an action-packed 3-2 win away at Minnesota, interim boss Frank Klopas has seen his side gain a string of plaudits.

Heading into the MLS’ month interval with another stellar performance as they grabbed a 3-0 romp at home against Montreal, fans around Soldier Field should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high.

Winning each of their previous four straight appearances across all competitions by an aggregate score of 8-2, it should also be noted that Chicago have won six of their previous seven appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to June 11th.

Likewise, winning three of their last four showdowns on the road, Klopas’ temporary squad should be smelling the chance to make another Leagues Cup statement here.

On the flip side, although Puebla might have somehow limped their way to the knockout stage, Los Camoteros are in the midst of what has become an extended crisis.

Last seen putting in another woeful display as they slumped to a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Minnesota, Tuesday’s hosts have lost each of their last three showdowns across all formats by an aggregate score of 10-2.

Failing to pick up a single Liga MX victory since opening the 2023 campaign with gaining a reputation for their glaring defensive struggles, Eduardo Arce’s squad should face another stern examination in midweek.

01:00 Club America vs Columbus Crew

While Club America might have opened the 2023 Liga MX campaign in the midst of a struggle, the Mexican giants have certainly come roaring back over the past fortnight. Really turning a corner on either side of the month interval, Tuesday’s hosts will be confident of laying down another Leagues Cup marker in midweek.

Opening their group stage adventure with a thumping performance as they cruised their way to a 4-0 romp at home against St. Louis City, Andre Jardine’s men have now secured back-to-back victories across all competitions by an aggregate score of 7-0.

Heading into the Leagues Cup break with a 3-0 win against Puebla on July 16th, the Eagles have also continued to shine with their success at the Estadio Azteca.

Hoping to make another statement in the early hours of Tuesday, Jardine will be calling on the red-hot Julian Quinones to spearhead their charge here.

Along with finding the net in back-to-back appearances, the 26-year-old has 14 goals in as many outings continuing on from last season.

On the flip side, while Columbus might have opened their own Leagues Cup adventure with a 2-1 win against St. Louis, the Crew have struggled with their consistency this season.

Hit with a 3-2 loss in their last showdown outside of Ohio, Wilfried Nancy will have a growing headache over his side’s extended issues on the road.

Including a 3-1 drumming at the hands of Nashville back on May 29th, Columbus have claimed just a single win from their previous seven away fixtures across all formats – a run that stems back to the start of May.
