August 27th: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 7/1

With the Premier League once again taking center stage this weekend, we have a stacked schedule on our hands. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday August 27th

BST 15:00 Leyton Orient vs Hartlepool

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, while Leyton Orient might have had to settle for a disappointing bottom-half finish last season, the O’s have come flying out of the traps this time around. Welcoming Richie Wellens to Brisbane Road back in March, the Londoners have skyrocketed their way to the top of the League Two table and the mood in their camp is at a red-hot high. Last seen putting in a rampant display as they cruised their way to a deserved 3-1 win away at Colchester, the one-time Doncaster boss has seen his side muster 13 points from their opening five appearances. With their early-season purple patch highlighted by a 1-0 victory against Mansfield on August 13th, Orient have also won their opening two matchups on home soil. With 20-year-old starlet Charlie Kelman bagging two strikes in his last three outings, Wellens’ side are rightfully tipped as a standout pick here. On the flip side, while Orient might be leading the chase at the top of the League Two table, the same cannot be said for a struggling Hartlepool. Opening the 2022/23 campaign with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Walsall, the Durham-based outfit have failed to win any of their first six competitive showdowns. Likewise, suffering a 5-0 drumming in their last trip to Brisbane Road last season, we’re backing a home victory here.

Tip: Leyton Orient win & Leyton Orient to score over 1.5 goals @ 19/20

17:30 Arsenal vs Fulham

While Arsenal might have just about fallen at the final hurdle last season, the Gunners have come roaring back in some style. Making it clear that they’re desperate to finally clinch a Champions League return, Mikel Arteta’s men have gained a host of plaudits from across the Premier League. Last seen putting in another stellar display as they breezed past top-flight returners Bournemouth thanks to a 3-0 romp on the south coast, Saturday’s hosts are in the midst of a remarkable purple patch. In fact, already getting nine points on the board and opening this weekend’s fixtures sat at the top of the table, Arteta’s side are also the only Premier League outfit that can boast a 100% start. With summer arrival Gabriel Jesus only continuing to shine since making the move from Manchester City this summer, Arsenal will be confident of laying down another marker here. Quickly gaining a reputation for their free-scoring displays and already notching nine top-flight strikes, Fulham could be bracing themselves for a huge task here. While the Cottagers might have opened the 2022/23 campaign enjoying their own eye-catching run of form, they are coming off the back of a downbeat display. Eventually crashing out of the EFL Cup earlier in the week after a shock 2-0 loss away at League Two strugglers Crawley, we’re backing a fairly routine victory on Saturday evening.

Tip: Arsenal to score in both halves @ 19/20

20:30 Minnesota vs Houston Dynamo

Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they claimed a 2-1 victory at home against Austin, Minnesota are cruising their way towards another Final Series finish. While Adrian Heath’s men might have suffered an action-packed 4-3 loss away at Colorado on August 6th, the Loons have proven that was just a minor blip. In fact, it should be noted, that defeat at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park earlier in the month was their only loss from their previous 11 domestic showdowns. With that stellar run of form stemming all the way back to the end of June, the Saint Paul-based outfit will be smelling a real chance here. Likewise, claiming a 2-1 victory when they faced off against Saturday’s opponents last month, Minnesota hold a rampant record against the Dynamos. Now winning each of their last four meetings by an aggregate score of 8-2, Heath’s high-flyers will be looking to cash in on a downbeat Houston squad. Despite being last seen snatching a 1-1 draw against Colorado, that is the only point that El Naranja have collected from their previous five MLS matchups. With that run underlined by a 6-0 drumming at the hands of Philadelphia on July 30th, Paulo Nagamura’s side have won just one of their last 10 appearances. With Minnesota winning each of their previous four showdowns, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

Tip: Minnesota win & Over 1.5 goals @ 5/4
