August 29th: Thursday’s Europa League Double – 8/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the Europa League qualifiers drawing to a close on Thursday, we look set for what should be a nail-biting night of action from across the continent.

As the likes of Dutch giants Ajax steal centre stage and look to lay down another European marker, there are plenty of intriguing betting markets that are available.

For those of you looking to stick on a midweek Europa League flutter, we have take a look at some of the most appealing betting tips.

19:45 Ajax vs Jagiellonia

Making an immediate return to winning ways last week as they stormed their way to what was a routine first-leg advantage, Ajax will simply be looking to wrap up their Europa League group stage ticket with another statement. Claiming a thumping 4-1 romp away in Poland, the Dutch giants are rightfully pencilled in as a landslide contender on Thursday night. Although Francesco Farioli’s side might be seeking some much-needed stability on either side of the summer break, Ajax should at least take some solace from their success on home soil. Edging past Panathianaikos earlier in the month thanks to what was a sensational penalties victory in Amsterdam, Farioli’s men have won all of their previous seven consecutive showdowns at the Johan Cruyff Arena continuing on from their pre-season preparations.

Making real history last season as they got their hands on a maiden domestic crown, Jagiellonia certainly underlined their status as one of Europe’s ultimate surprise packages. However, despite enjoying what was an iconic fairytale prior to the summer break, Thursday’s guests are at the heart of a real struggle. Hit with a 4-1 drumming when they welcomed Ajax to town last week, the Jaga have continued to show some glaring defensive issues. Failing to pick up any kind of momentum last time out as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Katowice while in domestic action, Jagiellonia have now lost all of their previous five straight appearances across all competitions. Gaining a reputation for their defensive issues, it should also be noted that Adrian Siemieniec’s side have shipped 16 goals on their five-match losing rut.

Betting Tip: Chuba Akpom to score the first goal @ 7/2 with Pribet

19:45 Hearts vs Plzen

Eventually snatching what was a dramatic first-leg advantage on home soil last week, Plzen will certainly be confident of finishing off their qualifying adventure here. Leaving the Doosan Arena with a narrow 1-0 win, Miroslav Koubek’s men are in the midst of what has become a stellar purple patch. Now just 90 minutes away from officially punching their Europa League group stage ticket, the Czech outfit should be relishing a trip to Tynecastle on Thursday night. Flying out of the traps since opening up the 2024/25 campaign and mustering 13 points from their first five domestic appearances, Plzen have also won all of their last five matchups across all competitions. Gaining a reputation for their defensive steel, the midweek guests have also not shipped a single goal in over 400 minutes of action. Likewise, Koubek’s high-flying squad have conceded just a sole strike over the past five weeks.

While Hearts might have stormed their way to a bronze medal finish among Scotland’s elite last season, the Jambos have come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion. Suffering last-gasp heartbreak on foreign soil last week as they fell to that 1-0 defeat at the Doosan Arena, Thursday’s hosts find themselves at the heart of a public crisis. Putting in another nightmare performance last weekend as they slumped to a 3-1 drumming at the hands of Motherwell, Steven Naismith’s men have failed to collect a single victory across any competition since opening up the 2024/25 campaign. Signing off their pre-season preparations with a 3-0 defeat against League Two outfit Fleetwood, Hearts have lost all of their last five appearances across all competitions. Crashing out of the League Cup earlier in the month following a 2-0 loss against Falkirk, Naithsmith’s side should have a real battle on their hands here.
