August 31st: Saturday’s Premier League Accumulator – 5/1

With the summer transfer window slamming shut on Friday night, we are treated to another stacked Premier League schedule this weekend.

Watching both Manchester City and Arsenal steal centre stage throughout Saturday, we have seven top-flight showdowns on the cards.

Ahead of what should be a frantic afternoon of Premier League action, we have taken a look at some of the most intriguing top-flight betting markets.

Saturday, August 31st

BST 12:30 Arsenal vs Brighton

Eventually falling short once again last season as they missed out on the chance to get their hands on a first Premier League crown since back in 2004, Arsenal are desperate to go one-step further this time around. Putting in what was a hugely impressive performance last weekend as they secured a 2-0 victory away at Champions League returners Aston Villa, Mikel Arteta’s young squad have come flying out of the traps. Getting proceedings underway with another 2-0 win at home against Wolves on August 17th, the Gunners have continued to gain a fearsome reputation for their defensive steel. One of just two top-flight clubs that are yet to concede a single strike from any of their opening two Premier League appearances, Arsenal will also be excited to make a return to north London this weekend. It should be highlighted, Arteta’s side have lost just a single top-flight defeat in front of their own supporters throughout 2024.

While many around the Amex might have been disappointed over the summer following Roberto De Zerbi’s departure, Brighton have only continued to shine under new boss Fabian Hurzeler. Snatching a sensational last-gasp 2-1 victory at home against Manchester United last weekend and collecting maximum points from their opening two Premier League appearances, the former St. Pauli boss will be looking to spring a heavyweight upset in north London. However, while the mood in Hurzeler’s camp might be at a red-hot high, Saturday’s guests will be worried by a downbeat record against the Premier League title contenders. Slumping to a 3-0 drumming when they welcomed Arsenal to the Amex back on April 6th, they have lost three of their last four top-flight battles. Likewise, falling to a 2-0 defeat when they travelled to the capital last season, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Betting Tip: Arsenal win & Under 4.5 goals @ 8/11

15:00 Leicester vs Aston Villa

Making real history last season as they stormed their way to a famous Champions League return, Aston Villa have continued to receive a string of plaudits from across England’s elite. Embarking on what has been a sensational rise following Unai Emery’s arrival in the Midlands last year, Saturday’s guests have their sights firmly set on mounting another top-four charge this time around. Opening the 2024/25 campaign with an eye-catching 2-1 victory away at West Ham on August 17th, Aston Villa will now be seeking an immediate response here. Despite eventually falling to a 2-0 loss at the hands of Arsenal last weekend, Emery’s men should be smelling a real opportunity on Saturday afternoon. Despite seeking some crucial defensive resolve on either side of the summer break, the former PSG boss will be relishing a trip to the King Power this week.

While Leicester might have stormed their way to an immediate Premier League return for this season, the Foxes appear to have a real battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of their top-flight status. With serious sanctions and even a hefty points deduction looming over them, Steve Cooper’s men find themselves pencilled in as a leading relegation contender this year. Eventually falling to what was a frustrating 2-1 defeat away at Fulham last weekend and still looking to pick up a maiden top-flight win, the former Nottingham Forest boss will be bracing himself for a stern examination here. Hit with a 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Aston Villa to the King Power back in April 2023, they have clinched just a single victory against Saturday’s guests at the King Power from their previous five attempts.

Betting Tip: Aston Villa win @ 4/5

17:30 West Ham vs Manchester City

While Manchester City might have relinquished their maiden Champions League crown last season, the Sky Blues have only shattered more domestic records. Becoming the first club in English history to collect four consecutive Premier League titles, Pep Guardiola’s men are once again pencilled in as a standout contender this time around. Only continuing on from where they left off back in May, Saturday’s guests are enjoying another flurry. Opening proceedings with an eye-catching 2-0 victory away at Chelsea on August 18th, Man City will simply be looking to make another early statement here. Mounting a stellar comeback at home against Premier League returners Ipswich last weekend as they stormed their way to a 4-1 win, Guardiola’s side will be relishing a trip to east London on Saturday evening. With the record-breaking Erling Haaland already notching four goals in his opening two top-flight appearances, City should find the mood in their camp at a continued high.

Getting a new era underway at the London Stadium this summer following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui, West Ham have their sights firmly set on mounting another European charge this season. However, although the Hammers might have secured back-to-back domestic victories over the past week, Saturday’s hosts couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge here. Pencilled in as a landslide underdog when they return to east London this weekend, West Ham should be concerned by a nightmare record against the defending Premier League champions. Falling to a 3-1 loss when they travelled to the Etihad back on May 19th, they have now lost all of their previous four consecutive battles by an aggregate score of 11-2. Likewise, it should also be highlighted that Lopetegui’s new squad have failed to muster a single top-flight win against the Sky Blues since way back in September 2015.

Betting Tip: Erling Haaland to score anytime @ 20/21
