With the Premier League making its return this weekend, we have a stacked schedule from across the footballing globe. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
Saturday August 6th
BST 15:00 Reading vs Cardiff City
Starting with Saturday’s guests, while Cardiff might have spent the majority of the 2021/22 campaign battling it out at the foot of the Championship table, it appears that the Bluebirds have come roaring back this time around. Opening up their pre-season preparations with a 3-2 win against League One outfit Cambridge, Steve Morison’s men were unbeaten in each of their five friendly contests. Racking up four victories in doing so, Cardiff also shocked many last weekend with what was an eye-catching display in south Wales. Opening the new Championship campaign with a 1-0 win against early-season title favourites Norwich on home soil, Morison’s side should find the mood in their camp at a real high. Looking to lay down another marker on Saturday afternoon, the Blues will also be boosted by their most recent trip to Berkshire. Landing a 2-1 win when they made the trip to Madejski on April 9th, Cardiff will be looking to cash in on a Reading side who have shown some extended issues over the past 12 months. Dealing with some worrying financial issues behind the scenes, the Royals also opened the 2022/23 campaign with a 1-0 loss away at Blackpool last weekend. Likewise, losing each of their final three Championship contests last season by an aggregate score of 5-0, we’re backing an away draw no bet here.
Tip: Cardiff City draw no bet @ 21/20
15:00 Bournemouth vs Aston Villa
Although Aston Villa might have been disappointed to have settled for a 14th-place finish last season, Steven Gerrard’s men have enjoyed an impressive summer run. Signing off their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 away at Ligue 1 outfit Rennes, the ex-Rangers boss has seen his side storm through their five friendly matchups without suffering a single defeat. Picking up four victories and a lively 2-2 draw against Manchester United while out in Australia, Villa have also welcomed a string of new faces to the Midlands this summer. Hoping to try and mount a real European charge this season, Gerrard’s men could be smelling a chance on Saturday afternoon. Watching Bournemouth sign off their summer preparations with three straight defeats against Real Sociedad, Bristol City and Braga, many have tipped the Cherries to be at the heart of a relegation scrap this year. Nevertheless, winning each of their last three meetings against Villa by a 2-1 scoreline, fans around the Vitality will be desperate for their side to pick up an early boost this weekend. However, while Scott Parker’s side might have not really splashed any cash this summer, it should be noted that Saturday’s opponents have a habit for producing lively affairs. With four of their last five meetings finishing with both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar outcome when both sides open the new Premier League campaign here.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 19/20
23:00 Avai vs Corinthians
After suffering a disappointing first-leg defeat at home against Flamengo earlier in the week while on Copa Libertadores duties, Corinthians will be seeking an immediate boost here. However, despite that downbeat display a few days ago, the Brazilian giants are still battling it out at the top of the Serie A table. Opening Saturday’s showdown sat second in the table, Head Coach Vítor Pereira does find his side enjoying an extended domestic purple patch. Last seen on top-flight action claiming a 1-0 win against Botafogo at the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians have won their last three Serie A outings. With that run highlighted by a 3-1 victory against Coritiba on July 21st, the Timão have also taken 12 points from their last five domestic appearances. Likewise, last seen on their travels picking up a 2-1 win against Atlético Mineiro, Pereira should be smelling the chance for his side to find an immediate boost on Saturday night. With Avai suffering a 3-1 drumming against America MG last weekend, the Santa Catarina-based outfit are at the heart of a relegation scrap. With many tipping them to be hit with an instant Serie B return this season, Eduardo Barroca’s side have now lost five of their last six Serie A contests. Losing each of their last three fixtures by an aggregate score of 6-2, an away win can be found at appealing odds here.
Tip: Corinthians win @ 7/5
