Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is hopeful that Bolton’s Gary Cahill will join his Stamford Bridge outfit by the end of this week.
Villas-Boas revealed talks over personal terms with the England defender are still ongoing, and that he wants the deal completed promptly.
The west London club are believed to have agreed a fee in the region of 7 million pounds with Bolton for the 26-year-old, with only the former Aston Villa man’s wage demands proving a stumbling block to the deal.
“It is still ongoing,” Villas-Boas told reporters. “We want it solved as soon as possible, but we are making progress and hopefully it will be sorted soon.”
“No (there is no deadline). All parties are protecting their interests and hopefully we will reach an agreement, hopefully this week.”
“It is part of the business; I am okay.”
