AVB says Defoe staying put, but Dawson could leave

A report from the Metro suggests that Andre Villas-Boas has issued a ‘hands-off’ warning on his leading scorer Jermain Defoe and said that Tottenham Hotspur will not be selling him to Queens Park Rangers in the January transfer window.

Villas-Boas also said that he rates the England striker on a similar level to Atletico Madrid star man Radamel Falcao, saying they both have an ‘extreme’ hunger to score goals.

With Harry Redknapp now in charge at QPR, some reports had suggested that he would make a move for Defoe as the pair have worked together at Portsmouth and of course most recently at Spurs.

However, the boss at the North London side believes that Defoe is vital to his team’s success this season and that he will not be heading anywhere.

One man who could be on the way out of White Hart Lane and heading to Loftus Road is Michael Dawson, who turned down a move to Rangers in the summer transfer window.

Dawson may now be tempted by the move if the opportunity arises though as he would link up with his former boss and has only started one game in the English Premier League this season.

We shall see.
