ESPN has learned that Premier League leaders Chelsea are hot on the trail of Athletic Club defender Aymeric Laporte.
Antonio Conte is looking to sign a long-term successor to club icon John Terry, who will leave the club at the end of the season.
And while he has been linked with moves for both Kalidou Koulibaly and Antonio Rudiger, ESPN claims that Aymeric Laporte is at the top of his wish list.
The 22-year-old has so far resisted temptation to leave los Leones in spite of the heavy interest from abroad, but an offer from Chelsea could test his resolve.
Laporte has a €65 million release clause in his current contract, and Athletic are unlikely to accept any offer below said figure.
The cultured centre-back has yet to decide whether to represent Spain or France on international level, although he is a member of Les Bleus Under-21 squad.
