Galatasaray chairman Unal Aysal is confident star signing Didier Drogba will become an instant hit at the club.
The former Chelsea striker inked an 18-month deal with the reigning Turkish champions on Monday, leaving Shanghai Shenhua after just six months in China.
His new club are delighted to have lured the Ivory Coast international back to Europe and have no doubt he will shine.
“Drogba fits in very well at Galatasaray and I am confident that he will be a success at this club,” Aysal told GSTV.
“We sat down in the morning to discuss a transfer and had already reached an agreement in the evening. Drogba is very pleased to sign for a club like Galatasaray.”
Club executive Bulent Tulun told GSTV that Galatasaray are a big name in European football and can attract high profile players such as Drogba and Wesley Sneijder.
Tulun said: “We’ve become a club that makes world class signings. Galatasaray is a big brand in Europe, you can see that over there.
“We made contact with Drogba first then the player wanted to speak with our chairman Unal Aysal and our coach Fatih Terim. After those meetings he’s been convinced to sign for us.”
The 34-year-old is the Champions League hopefuls’ second high-profile signing of the January transfer window after previously capturing Sneijder from Inter Milan.
