Demba Ba has denied that there is any truth in the rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal from Newcastle United in the January transfer window, the Metro reports.
However, he did say that playing for the Gunners would be a ‘dream’ and that has raised more doubt over the future of the Senegal international.
Ba was on the score-sheet once more over the weekend as he netted against Manchester City to make it eleven goals in the English Premier League so far.
He of course has a £7 million release clause in his contract and with January just weeks away, the Magpies are starting to worry about his future.
Ba has said that there has been no contact from Arsene Wenger or Arsenal Football Club just yet though.
“Arsenal are one of these teams who make you dream. I have nothing to say about the speculation. The media know Arsenal need another striker and they know about my release clause. They need to make their own mind up about it.”
It seems as though the striker is keeping his cards close to his chest, but is also very relaxed about the situation he finds himself in.
With these sorts of comments though, Wenger is surely weighing up the possibility of signing the Senegalese on the cheap, especially as he is lacking goals right now.
It is certainly a story to keep an eye on.
