David Villa has distanced himself from a move to England after admitting he wants to continue playing in the La Liga, according to the Daily Telegraph.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Villa has said that he would prefer a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid if he left Valencia, rather than a move to England.
The news will come as a shock to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool who had all been vying for the Spanish star’s signature.
Reports suggested that Villa may link up with current Liverpool striker Fernando Torres at Anfield and Spanish midfielder Francesc Fabregas has admitted that the signing of Villa for Arsenal would be great for the club.
Chelsea are expected to recruit some big-name signings this summer in the revolution under new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. However, it now seems that Villa will add to the list of players who will not be joining Stamford Bridge this summer, including the likes of Kaka and Fernando Torres.
Kaka has been strongly linked with a move to the London club for the past few seasons and these rumours seem to gather some strength due to the fact that AC Milan failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this coming season. However, Milan’s Technical Director Leonardo has said it “would be impossible” that Kaka may leave and Kaka only just signed a contract which will see him tied to the club until 2013.
Liverpool are unlikely to sell either, with Fernando Torres proving to be the star player of the Liverpool season. Torres joined for around £20 million last summer and has scored 33 times in 46 games for the club. Liverpool are unlikely to sell to fierce rivals Chelsea even if the London club offered huge amounts of money and Torres is said to be happy at Anfield.
