Everton defender Leighton Baines has ended speculation that he is set to join former manager David Moyes at Manchester United by signing a new deal at Goodison Park, Sky Sports understands.
The England international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, and the Premier League champions had three bids for the left-back rejected by Everton during the summer.
However, he has committed himself to the Merseysdie club for a further four years, meaning United will have to look elsewhere if they are to bring in further competition for Patrice Evra and Alex Buttner.
Baines moved to Everton from Wigan Athletic in 2007, going on to make 263 appearances for the Toffees so far while during that time he has become a permanent fixture in the England set up – battling with Chelsea’s Ashley Cole for the left-back slot.
Baines’s Everton side travel to Anfield tomorrow evening to face Liverpool in the 222nd Merseyside derby.
