Tottenham Hotspur manager Andres Villas Boas has confirmed that the club are in talks with midfielder Gareth Bale over a new contract, Sky Sports understands.
The Wales international has been strongly linked with a move away from White Hart Lane following an outstanding season which saw him named PFA, FWA and Barclays Premier League Player of the Year.
Spanish giants Real Madrid reportedly made a world record bid for the 24 year old yesterday, something which Villas Boas has refused to deny.
Bale moved to North London six years ago, but endured a slow start to his Spurs career, with the club failing to register a single victory in his first twenty-four Premier League appearances.
He was first named PFA Player of the Year in 2011, before becoming only the fifth player after Mark Hughes, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo to receive the accolade on two occasions back in April.
