Tottenham defender Gareth Bale signed a new contract on Wednesday that will keep the Wales international at White Hart Lane until 2012.
Bale, 19, made just 12 appearances during an injury-hit debut season with the Premier League club, but boss Juande Ramos is convinced he can be a key figure in his revamped team.
Bale, who joined Tottenham from Southampton for five million pounds (6.2 million pounds) in May 2007, is Wales’ youngest full international after making his debut aged 16 years and 315 days.
“We are delighted to announce that Gareth Bale has signed a new contract that will see him commit his future to the Club until 2012,” a statement on the club’s website read.
