According to a recent report from Marca, Spanish giants Real Madrid are preparing to let Gareth Bale leave the Bernabeu during the upcoming summer transfer window. The Welshman, who has had a mixed tenure with the club since joining back in 2013, could be used as part of Real’s scheme to sign either Christian Eriksen or Eden Hazard. If that proves to be the case, then it’d mark a somewhat unlikely return to the Premier League for Bale – who is set to turn 30 this July.
Bale’s current contract doesn’t expire until 2022, but the report suggests that he is now being viewed as expendable.
Arguably Gareth’s finest moment in the famous white shirt came during last year’s Champions League Final, when he scored twice to help Real to lift the trophy against Liverpool in Kiev.
Bale signed for Real from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of over €100 million which, at the time, was a world record.
