Following the change of managers at Real Madrid, Gareth Bale has indicated that he would like to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and prove his worth to Julen Lopetegui, according to ESPN.
After the Champions League final against Liverpool in which Real won their third consecutive European crown under Zinedine Zidane with Bale coming on from the bench to score two memorable goals, the Welshman expressed doubts about his future, feeling he had done enough to warrant a place in the club’s starting XI.
However, in a shocking chain of events afterwards, Zidane left his post, Lopetegui has been named as his successor and then sacked from his position as the Spain national team manager.
Now, presented with a chance to impress the new man in charge, Bale is keen to give it a go rather than leave the club and go back to the Premier League. This decision will surely come as a blow to Manchester United who are at the head of the queue should any move be on the cards.
