Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset is reporting that Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli could join Fiorentina in exchange for Mario Gomez.
The controversial forward has had a pretty disappointing start to his career in England and with his father passing away last week, he is believed to be planning to return to Italy.
Balotelli will not join Liverpool on a tour of Thailand considering that he is on compassionate leave and the forward may have already played his last game for the Reds.
Namely, the Premier League side have shown interest in Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez and they are ready to let Balotelli move to Artemio Franchi in exchange.
The Italian would probably join Viola on a season-long loan, with the two clubs believed to be in advanced talks at the moment.
Mario Gomez, too, has largely struggled to prove his worth at Fiorentina and he will probably welcome the change of scenery.
