Balotelli set to leave Nice

“A contract extension? No. I think it will be over”.

Those are the short and sweet words of Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere, who has all but confirmed that Mario Balotelli will be leaving the French club at the end of the season. The controversial Italian has had his ups and downs in Ligue 1, as has been the case pretty much everywhere he’s been.

The former Manchester City and Liverpool forward knows how to keep himself in the headlines, so the smart money would be on him moving to another notable club so that he can keep his reputation alive and well.

It’d be interesting to see whether or not any Premier League clubs come in for him, because despite his poor run with the Reds, he’s still considered to be a great finisher who can be a real handful when he’s on form.

Of course, time will tell whether or not clubs want the baggage that comes along with that.
