Barcelona are considering a summer bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez, according to Sport.
The Catalans have just had their transfer ban suspended, meaning they will be able to sign new players in the summer.
Daily newspaper Sport has learned that sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has plans to lure Bayern’s Javi Martinez to Camp Nou.
The Catalans missed out on the Spain international last summer as he joined the Bavarians in a €40 million deal, but they are prepared to make a fresh assault.
Martinez has failed to establish himself as a first team regular at Alianz Arena and he has only made 15 league appearances this season.
And while he might be tempted by the prospect of joining Barcelona, negotiating a transfer fee with Bayern could prove to be a very difficult task.
Having lost the first leg of the Champions League semi-final to Real Madrid, the Bavarians are 6/5 to qualify for the final.
